Career Connections, your local staffing and recruiting experts since 1990.
Welcome to our resource page for the Gallia County Job & Family Services'
summer work program. Some frequently asked questions are below.
We are the employer of record. We handle onboarding (tax forms), timesheet management, paychecks, and even sometimes mileage reimbursements.
Weekly! Our payroll periods run Monday through Sunday and hours submitted on the weekly timesheet are paid out on the Friday after the week worked (unless the Friday is a federal banking holiday, than it will be the day before).
We are only offering electronic payment to either a financial institution of the participants choosing or to Branch, our pay card partner.
Each participant will have a weekly timesheet that demonstrates arrival and departure times for each week. That timesheet can be completed by the employee OR the site supervisor, but it must be submitted by the job site supervisor and NOT the employee so that we can be sure the information is accurate and approved for processing
Deadline: Monday, following the week worked, no later than 5 p.m. Timesheets received after could be delayed by an entire week. Timesheets can be scanned and emailed or you can take a picture and email the image to: payroll@careerconnections.info. Once emailed, we will reply to confirm it has been received. Please call the office with any questions or concerns: 740-594-4941
Lunch Breaks
Per program rules, each participant must receive a paid 30‑minute meal period when working an eight‑hour shift. Participants should not clock out for this meal period.
Overtime
Overtime is not permitted under program rules. It is very important to monitor participant schedules to ensure they do not exceed 40 hours in a single payroll period.
Because the meal break is paid and participants do not clock out for lunch, you may need to adjust their daily schedule so their total hours remain compliant. If a participant stays late on one day, please shorten their schedule on another day within the same pay period to prevent overtime.
Any overtime hours that are worked must be legally paid to the participant. However, those overtime wages will be billed directly to the job site, not to Job & Family Services.
Please help us avoid this by keeping schedules within the required limits.
Career Connections is the employer of record, which means all participants are covered under our Workers’ Compensation policy. Because of this, any incident—no matter how minor—must be reported to our office. This includes small cuts, scrapes, slips, or anything that could reasonably be considered a workplace injury.
